Patriot Days at The University of Texas at Tyler!

This week has been a whirlwind of fun here at The University of Texas at Tyler! We had many events happening for Patriot Days. There was much free food, festivities and educational information for FREE to all students. It was perfect timing too, everyone needs a pick-me-up during the craziness that IS April. Finals are coming quickly, the world is turned upside down momentarily, you think you are about to totally lose your cool.... and then the University gods come and bring loads of free food, balloon artists and spray-paint artists to entertain you. It's like the ultimate "HEY. DON'T DIE" from the University!

I decided to cover the Health Fair during Patriot Days. I'm really glad I did, because all of the food offered wasn't super vegetarian friendly and the UC second floor was turning into a land of pure temptation. So I went upstairs and these are a few things I found....

National Coming Out Day at UT Tyler!

NationalComing Out Day will be a really important day for everyone in the LGBTQIA (affectionately known as alphabet soup, break-down found here) community. For me, NCOD brings back fond memories of those awkward conversations with my parents and the moment I was finally ready to be OUT on Facebook. I know. Public announcements are kinda my thing.

So please, come show some love to anyone and everyone! There will be festivities, brought to you by the Gay Straight Alliance here at The University of Texas at Tyler. 

There will be a photo booth with a ton of fun props to use. We will have a dry erase board, so you can write messages of affirmation to little coming-out-newbies or tell us why coming out is important to you. 

We have invited Airyka Adonis to join us as well! She is a fabulous entertainer, so come get your picture taken with this foxy queen and meet and great new people!

The GSA will also be giving away leis with positive affirmations attached to them. We want this Friday to be full of fun, quirky and uplifting vibes. Lastly, THERE WILL BE SKITTLES.

I know you guys are all just as excited as I am. Coming out is hard, and one thing that makes it easier is knowing that you have a group of people who love and accept you, no matter what. That’s why National Coming Out day isn't just for the Queer population- it’s for everyone who has a heart. 

I'M KIDDING, it’s for those who want to show support. So come visit us !

Free Concert- Marina and the Diamonds Kicks Off Homecoming!

It's Homecoming Week here at UT Tyler, and it is always distracting for me. As an English major, I'm planning my final papers now. I find it difficult to buckle down to work with events happening every night this week!

Marina and the Diamonds visited us for the opening of our Homecoming! It was a huge secret for months, I'm guessing, but CAB started spreading the news the week prior. I didn't get to go, but my friend Ashley took a really cute video! 

Mark Your Calendars, Homecoming is... coming

Patriot Palooza and Homecoming are my favorite weeks in the fall semester (okay, also Thanksgiving week because I get to sleep and eat and go into a food coma and not worry about classes).

And next week is UT Tyler's Homecoming Week!

The week kicks off with a tailgate party Oct 22, Monday evening, which includes a lot of fun stuff. Last year included a mechanical bull (I watched our school mascot, Swoop, ride it and fall! It was hilarious), cotton candy (who doesn't love cotton candy), a lot of free food, the opportunity to completely destroy a car with a sledgehammer and a lot of other fun stuff! I cannot wait to see what they have in store for us this year.

The rest of the week will be equally as fun so be sure to attend as much as you can! But don't miss class for anything because nothing is worth getting behind in classes. Grab some friends and plan to go together whenever everyone has free time and go! And even better, make new friends in those events!

Last year, Homecoming week was the time I met a lot of my friends. It's such a great opportunity to do so!

I will be there for sure, taking a million pictures as always, so I hope to see you guys there :)

College Life, mid semester

When I'm not working UT Tyler's call center, vlogging, in my sexual health education internship, sleeping (if I'm lucky)- apparently I am galavanting along the countryside visiting my family, friends, and attending classes for my future career!

Though I despise driving, I do not regret one bit everything I am traveling to go do, but I am missing out on live music out with my friends. I went to visit some people related to me in Oklahoma, and I mostly shared a meal with each, running to my next brunch or lunch at all my favorite places. It was good to visit home.

I hardly got to see my friends! I drove back and worked here the same day, training the New Kid on the Blog! School has me swamped. Yesterday, I ran my Stress Free Event, and "Stress Free" events can be stressful!

I am spreading myself thin here. :(
