Post Crawfish boil

Did you know that craw fish are most active at night?

They are in fact more active at night.

We just had a craw fish boil here for Patriot Days.

Gabby blogged before hand about it and now I  am happy to tell you about my experience.

My boyfriend convinced me to go even though I was happy in my room studying and stewing over my chemistry lab test that is occurring tomorrow.

The event was packed and the food was delicious. They offered some Popsicles to help with the heat and to accompany with the spicy-ness of the craw fish.

One of the people we were sitting with while we enjoyed our craw fish went and asked to have a live craw fish. He actually was given one.

My blogger instincts kicked in and we had a little photo shoot.
I had so much fun! and nice full stomach! 

More fun events are coming as Patriots Days continues!

Update:

I did attend another Patriot Day event!

For which I got cool ring that was stamped on site!

It says Kevin, who is my boyfriend who I go on all

those vacation with and generally spend all my time with aside from the important things.

He got a ring with Emmy on it.

Annual Crawfish Boil at UT Tyler!

Kicks off Patriot Days with crawfish boil!!!!

If you are on campus at 11:30 on Monday, April 14th, come down to Harvey Deck and enjoy crawfish!

Unfortunately, last year I was not able to go to because of work but tomorrow, OH! IT. IS. ON!
I plan to go there with friends RIGHT after our class. But try to get there early if you are impatient, cause the line gets long FAST!

I hope you guys can make it for some yummy crawfish!

PS. If you are like me and you really don't want to see shells of crawfish around campus ground, not interested in the smell or flies, please do clean up after yourself! We have trash can around campus guys! Let's utilize them !:)

Improper Table Manners Needed

After the crawfish boil yesterday for patriot days, I have to say I was quite impressed with UT Tyler’s ability to devour some crawfish. There were however a few stand outs that looked lost with the delicious creatures or some even scared on how to go about eating it. For those special people, I’ve decided to give you a quick guide on how to eat your crawfish. Before you can even eat the crawfish, you have to be prepared, here’s how.

• First of all, the crawfish is dead. It can’t pinch you so please don’t act all afraid.
• Secondly, you can’t eat a plate of crawfish and do it cleanly. If you plan on enjoying it, it will get messy! Get napkins, newspapers, whatever.
• Thirdly, it’s spicy. Please don’t pull a rookie move by having to run back and grab a bottle of cold water to quench the fire. Have it ready!

Now to actually eat the fish.

• Attack the crawfish. Yes, pull the tail from the body
• Next, pry apart the shell and get the tail meat
• Finally, eat the tail and if you choose suck out the juice from the head
• On to the next one

Patriot Days

So, it's about that time of year again where we start kicking up activities around the University. What I mean is, we start our Patriot Days, which is a campus wide event spanning a week. There's a variety of things that go on during this week of the year. We've got Capture the Flag, baseball games, movies on the lawn, shows in the University Center, and all sorts of other stuff going on that you should really be trying to get to.

Unfortunately for me, I only have time to go to one or two events during Patriot Days every year, but I always make my way to the crawfish boil they have on the first day. And it's not just me. From what I've seen, it's one of the most popular events during Patriot Days. That may be because of the amazing buckets of crawfish, corn, and potatoes they serve, though. They usually play Zydeco music when they're serving the food, but today they had a band from Jacksonville, Florida called Son of a Bad Man play. They were a pretty good listen, if I do say so myself.

Anyway, there's still a full week of Patriot Days to go, so there'll be plenty of time for us to enjoy what's going on on campus.
