UT Tyler CAB hosts hypnotist

Bingo Night at UT Tyler!

UT Tyler CAB (Campus Activities Board) recently held a Bingo Night here at the Patriot Zone. 

The first night I didn't go because I was busy and in all honesty, bingo has never appealed to me. 

When I got back to my room, my roommate started raving about bingo night and all the awesome prizes they had, and etc. So she told me I HAD to go to the next one, and thanks to the awesome job I have that allows me to check out campus events (and get paid for it), I went to my first Bingo Night.

It was in our Patriot Zone and open to all students. They had a table FULL of prizes. A lot more people went than I expected. 

 

Now, playing bingo when I would play bingo as a little girl I never won ANYTHING. 

The first round we played, guess who the winner was? ME! 

I was so excited. However, you can only win once to give everyone an equal chance.

Which was fine. I didn't mind. Because I still won first, making me the Bingo Queen. 

When there are more Bingo Nights, trust that the (self-proclaimed) Bingo Queen will definitely be in attendance. 

Open Mic Night...

  It's Thursday night, you've got one class the next morning (early but still) and all your friends are busy. 
What to do. What to do. 
   I have something you probably didn't think about attending but after you read my wonderful prose about Open Mic Night. You might in fact change your mind.
  
Open Mic Night is happening this Thursday night at the Patriot Zone.
      It's features a slam poet Colin Gilbert!
     This should be enticing for some like myself, who hasn't heard live slam poetry. 
So ya know.
  According to Layman Lyric Production:

Colin Gilbert, a native East Texan, grew up in the country with hard work and family values etched into his very being. But barbed wire fences couldn't make the man country. Soon enough, Colin found his new home in Dallas. In the summer of 2005, he began writing and performing his poetry and immediately received local recognition.

So those who hail from East Texas can come and support a former East Texan. 
Now due to our advance technology, Gilbert has uploaded some of his slam poetry (and yes this is a link to Myspace) that you can listen for those who would like to have a preview of what to expect. 

CAB Trip

Couple days ago I took a trip to the American Airlines center to watch the Dallas Mavericks play the New York Knicks in a basketball game. The trip was just one of the many activities planned by UT Tyler's CAB (Campus Activities Board). CAB provides many opportunities for students to get involved through entertaining, cultural, educational, and recreational activities on campus. All these all strive to promote student life and unify the campus. Here are some pictures from the trip.

Back from break

        It's great to be back from break, mainly because it means less work hours, but it feels good to be back and in the swing of things. Right away we have some exciting events coming up at UT Tyler. If you hurry, you can still make it to the first SGA general assembly meeting in RBS 2024! Coming up on January 29th is the Winter Masquerade at 8pm in the UC ballroom. The formal is Mardi Gras themed, but it's formal, so no painted on Saints logos. 



        Plenty more is coming this semester from UT Tyler CAB, Greek Life, and others (including an exciting Cowan Center line up). The best way to get notifications is to become friends with each of these groups respective Facebook profiles, as 99% of on campus happenings get sent out as events to all those who are friended.
