Eating Healthy:)

Now for eating healthier, that's a bit trickier. I have such a hard time with this since, we can all agree that most people tend to lean towards the unhealthier food selection. They are just SO good! Maybe start off my giving up some junk food you really like but know is bad for you. I myself gave up drinking soda and right now I'm trying to cut back eating chocolate ( oh my goodness, it's SOOOOO hard. I feel like I'm experiencing chocolate withdrawal).  I'm not a doctor or anything like that, this is entirely an opinion of a girl who has gotten through all these pressures that most girls go through. It's easier sometimes to focus on negative things about yourselves, but say and acknowledge at LEAST one good thing you see in yourselves and focus on that instead of the negatives. I'm working on that , I tend to get really hard on myself, but if I can do it, I bet you guys can too:) Just always remember, to do things that make YOU happy.

How to stay healthy!

Fact: I was sick every month of the past semester
That's not very good.

So I came back to Tyler to start the semester off right with the goal of not getting sick this semester.
The goal is semi-reachable. Aside from my weak immune system.
To reach this goal I've adapted a new "get healthy"  routine.

Thus I've created a blog about tips about staying healthy.

No sodas. Even cutting down on consumed sodas is good for you health.

Drink lots of water in replace to all the sodas you're not drinking :)

Wash your hands.

Eat fruit! and or vegetables

Don't slouch in chairs. It's not good for your back

Don't look at the computer like this. It hurts your eyes.Take more active
breaks from your computer use.

Take up running! or some other sport!

Get 8 hours of sleep.
This is a hard one. I know.

Eat less sugar! and sugar loaded delicious treats

Clean!

The model for this photo shoot is my lovely roommate. Who I thank for doing a cheesy photoshoot with me. All this tips are things you repeatedly hear. That doesn't take away from the truth of the matter.Adieu! blog readers. I must do all these things and then save the world from the wrath of an unknown enemy.

Flu Season, Patriots… Stay Healthy!

My state as I write this blog: blocked nose, sore throat, voice like that of a man, nauseated.

I always get sick at this time of the year, when the weather is in the process of changing. And so is everyone around me!

As the weather continues to power on to Fall Season, we experience a fluctuation of cold and hot weather. I think that confuses my body and eventually, my immune system fails me.

I cannot believe my luck that I would get sick this week; a week full of exams and quizzes. I’ve already missed three classes because my fever reached 103°F yesterday. And now I’m in a state of worry on how I’m going to catch up on missed school work. I blame Murphy’s Law.

I went to the University Health Clinic yesterday and got a note. They also prescribed me some medicine that helped break my fever. But I’m still pretty sick and I’m still very behind on work.

So if you’re one of those that’s already infected, here’s are some things that’s helping me get better:
  •  Go to the clinic. That’s the first step because they will know what’s going on in your body and prescribe you some medicine. (Also, there’s the chance that it’s not flu, so it’s better safe than sorry)
  •  If you don’t have the time or energy to go to the clinic, over the counter medication could be your best bet.
  •  VITAMIN C. Cannot express how much Vitamin C will help. It boosts your immune system and helps you get better faster and prevents any other sickness. Oranges/Vitamin C supplements are good.
  •  Fluids. Being sick gets you dehydrated and your body will always need more fluids than normal.
  •  Lots of rest, staying warm (but not too warm, because that elevates your body temperature if you have a fever) and avoiding extra physical work.
Also, if you’re not sick yet (lucky you), here are some preventative measures you might want to take:
  • Again, VITAMIC C. A strong immune system is key.
  • Get your flu shot :) The University Health Clinic provides this shot and you can set up an appointment and get one.
  • Stay away from sick people (for obvious reasons)
  • Keep pocket hand sanitizer with you at all times, and use it as necessary. Kill ‘em germs.
  • Keep your apartment/living space clean. Bacteria and germs LOVE mess and dirty places and you wouldn’t want your space to be a breeding ground for that.
You should also read my co-blogger Gabby’s blog on more tips about staying healthy and germ-free.
I hope everyone else is had a great week and looking forward to Homecoming! :)

The battle of the immune system

The battle between my immune system and all the pathogens and factors that can cause one to become ill has been wagered already for this semester. My immune system lost this time. Now i'm plagued with a sinus infection.
I take these giant antibiotic pills twice a day. I still attend class every day mostly because I have a deal with one of my parental units that if I attend every class session for each class for the whole semester, I get a hundred dollars in my pocket. I've always been more susceptible to getting sick because of my asthma and other factors I don't truly understand.
This led me to be extra cautious when I first entered college last year. I had a box of things to help keep my health up and such. I managed to go through one semester and most of the last semester without getting ill. The link has some tips are staying healthy in the dorm.
Like:

3. Keep your room clean!
“Dorm rooms can be a breeding ground for all kinds of germs. It's communal living, so you usually have roommates and suitemates, and germs spread fast. Also, many dorms are used year-round for summer sessions and other educational programs, so when you first move in, you don't know how clean it really is and who lived in it last.” – Susan Ott
*Don’t clean your room for Health and Safety’s. KEEP it clean ALL semester!

--Another tip was about caffeine but I haven't been following this as caffeine is the only way to for me to function this week.

this is a picture of myself at work. all sickly.

My current antibiotics aren't  doing their job
but it looks like i'm going to get some new ones soon! and
start getting back to full health instead of being a blob who sleeps between classes and only sees sunlight when I have to go to work or class.
My blog's should be more interesting after that. Since the only people I interact with is my roommates and the cast of the O.C and lastly my co-workers.
