Human Versus Zombies!
It's that time of the year again!
Human Versus Zombies will be played on campus again this semester!
Be prepared to see students around campus carrying their Nerf guns with orange bandannas wrapped on their head or shoulder. This will add a bit of chaos to our normal campus life, but in return it will add some entropy. The players are advised to be cautious and not disrupt those on campus.
Registration for Human versus Zombies begins October 28th and will end on November 4th.
The event actually begins November 4th and will end on November 9th.
Each day involves a "mission" for the human and/or zombies to complete against the clock and against the opposing forces.
If you would like to participate, you will need some things:

Working Hard ... or Hardly Working at UT Tyler?
When somebody in college says, “I am in an Honors class,” what do you think that means? When I was little and in High School, I took it to mean that [ insert person here ] was smarter than me. I thought, “Man, they must know everything!” and it was certainly true that these kids did different work than me.

The many lives of Emmy
After doing my morning routine, I ventured out of my room and out of my apartment into the open spaces of campus. Where my life suddenly became hanging in the balance. Mind you not my actual life. That wasn't severely threaten aside from a freak accident occurring I'm talking about human status in the campus game of Humans vs. Zombies this week.
I walked around campus with a mixture of fear, anticipation and excitement that I might encounter a zombie and get chased and hopefully make it out alive. This concept of "me making it out alive after an encounter with a zombie" is quite far fetched since I've stated before that I am small, weak and you can toss me over your shoulder with little struggle given the circumstance.
This fact stated, I'd like to say I SURVIVED FOUR DAYS of Humans Versus Zombies compared to my last attempt where I died the first day. I think this most likely occurred because I have a weird schedule and I'm a ninja.
I will prove that I am a ninja by telling you how I got zombiefied even though it is embarrassing for my nerf gun.
I was walking out of business building after class.
When I spotted a zombie walking up the hill between Business and the RBS building. I fumbled with my gun in fear but the zombie didn't seem to notice me.
this is what I looked like when I saw the zombie without the weird expression
I followed behind said zombie about five paces. I thought I was in the clear but the zombie had friends who pointed me out and the chase began.
I shot my gun three or four times and nothing came out. My death occurred and all I remember is black then I walked my way to work.
My gun is now in time out and further punishment is be decided.

Crazy things actually happen at UT Tyler?
So today is Monday. Like every other Monday, I set off on my
trek to the Ratliff Building North to go to my math class. Pretty bland, you
could say. Then all of a sudden, I heard a loud roar. Honestly, I was a little
bit scared, but I pretended not to be because there were seniors everywhere. So
I continued to walk in the direction of the loud noise.
Not
long after, I just saw a huge stampede of human beings running straight towards me.
I justified this in my head by saying that maybe some people are having a race,
or running away from the RBN. I was wrong, SO wrong. Not only were these people
being loud and running fast, but they were masked and sported diapers.
I've never seen something quite this odd happen on campus, this kind of thing
happens all the time in places like New York, I’m sure. All I know is that it
made my trip to math a lot more funny and creepy than it usually is, and it was
among the more hilarious things I've experienced here. A lot of people are
talking about it around campus today, and I hear some talk saying apparently
this happens every year around this time. I also heard that these masked
adult-babies are the men’s soccer players. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if
it were.
If I
knew ahead of time, I would've snapped a few pictures of them, so that there embarrassment
would be forever captured here on my blog. Luckily, a few other people did, and the just so happened to get this photo of them. Hope you like it!
Also, Humans vs Zombies has officially started, and people are hiding, getting
attacked, and turning into “zombies.” It’s almost like a real life The Walking Dead, but not really. Good luck humans, and don’t attack me when I’m the only
human left!
Yours truly,
Chandler Upchurch

World Series of Zombies....
My title makes this blog sound more awesome then it will probably actually be but I did spark your interests.
Wednesday night I attended yet another sponsored event by one of the RA's at Patriot Village.
It was a gathering to watch the World Series game one which was the Detroit Lions versus the San
Francisco Giants. For those who didn't watch the game, The Giants won 8-3 and score 4 of those hits during the first inning off of a home run. This gathering offered delicious pizza and yummy cinnamon rolls from Cici's pizza.
I myself enjoy the sports Baseball and Softball. I used to play as a child up to maybe 13 years old when I got hit in the chest from a batter with one of the best players in our league pitching.
Here is one of my pictures as a softball player for you to look at.
I signed up for Human versus Zombies today. It's an on campus event that basically you try to stay alive all week as a human without being tagged by a zombie. Human are allowed to Nerf guns, socks and marshmallows. Each day there is a mission of sort that all the participants play in to get some kind of reward.
You can read more on the Facebook group. I'm super excited about this. I will also be filming this for the event for you guys to watch as Eli passed the gauntlet to me when he left last semester. I hope to make just as awesome videos or better.
My Code name is Blogger Zombie. :)
Registration is over by now when this blog is posted. Don't fret if my blog made you go, I wanna play! because this will occur again next semester or if you're really zealous to join you should talk to one of the mods on the Facebook linked.

Who wants to go running?
I’ve never
been an athletic person. I am small and twiggy even as a child (see the picture above)
I was the
kid who got out of gym in elementary because of asthma.
I took my
last half of my “gym” credits in high school at the local community college
taking a weight lifting class.
I AM NOT
ATHLETIC.
These are my "dino arms". This is the picture before I busted my butt while taking the group jumping picture.

Humans vs Zombies: Semester 2 Finale
*The following is recovered footage from broadcaster Sol*
And we have finally gathered, what little humans remain against the snapping, bestial horde. The mission was straightforward, but not simple, a vial of patient zero's blood needed to be collected for a chemical bomb that would leave the area intact but wipe out all life... without that blood the zombies wouldn't be effected. Simple enough, but we had to get access codes to the bomb, 4 strands of code for each human, and with 20 humans that number seemed impossible... some would not make it home. The helicopter carrying the code strands was shot down by renegade humans over a forested area, we would need to send two teams, one to get the vial, one to get enough beads for everybody... then activate the bomb, run to the bomb shelter and hit the detonator, shielding whoever was inside from the explosion. The humans and zombies each had a HERO unit, a specialist, the zombies had a tall, lanky zombie that had retained most of his faculties and was able to launch razor sharp discs at us, getting hit by one meant you were downed for 30 seconds. The humans had a young, female berserker with a giant staff who was able to cleave zombies with one swipe. We divided into two teams, made our plans, distrust was heavy in the air, at any time if somebody had the blood and 4 code strands they could detonate the bomb and leave us all to be burned away.

Humans vs Zombies: Semester 2 Day 1

Standoff between zombies and the humans.
*cough cough* Hello!? Anybody here? Hm, some of my supplies from my last broadcast are here, looks like the scavengers didn't find my hiding place... yet. Oh wow, and the generator still has some juice in it, enough for a few broadcasts I hope. After a few months of scattered radio transmissions from survivors left behind, the military decided to make another excursion into the city to see if they could find more survivors. Unfortunately due to multiple infected zones the military is stretched fairly thin, I was drafted into service and am now a formally deputized Zombie hunter. And let me tell you first hand that the world is very different from looking in my broadcast tower to actually being on the streets running for my life.
