Spring Break on a Budget

For most college students, this is the time of year that we dream about shortly after first moving in and awkwardly navigating The Met for the first time. However, like most college students, we realize the American Pie worthy spring break is a far cry from what we are able to do. We are stressed with midterms, strapped for cash, and exhausted from being bombarded with quizzes and exams. So what is a stressed, tired, and broke college student to do when there’s no school for a week?
If you guessed: read this list for ideas, you are correct!!

Visit other towns/cities!

I've lived in Tyler, Texas for 10 years. This has allowed me to know the small city pretty well. This does not go without saying that I want to branch out to different places. I have yet to visit any part outside Texas. This has to change. Traveling seems like a great thing to do, yet I am still here. Not complaining, just observing. I actually visited Dallas last week for the second time ever.

Yes, I am that guy that has stayed in the town he grew up in. I have sadly never been anywhere in the U.S., let alone other parts of Texas. I have only gone to Waco, San Antonio and Dallas. This is sad. I need to travel more.

UT Tyler Back to School Blues

I am so glad to be back from break. As much as I didn't want to return to class, just being back in my OWN dorm room with MY bed and no little brothers messing with all my stuff has been a relief.

In the midst of basking in my regained freedom, I didn't realize that school was starting again so soon.
Just because I am not ready for school to start doesn't mean that school is going to wait. So, for all of you starting out the semester, GET ALL OF YOUR THINGS TOGETHER! Get your textbooks, read your syllabus, and believe that your professors will give you work the first day back. Seriously. I'm suffering now.

Good luck to everyone! This semester is going to be great!

My Thanksgiving!

Hey Guys! Well, Thanksgiving break has come to an end, and normal life has started back up again for everybody. Overall, my break was amazing. I must admit that this has probably been one of my absolute favorite Thanksgivings ever!

Summer Break

I love college. Don't get me wrong. I love learning, I love class, and I even love writing papers. I'm a freak; I know. Yet, every university student needs a brain break every once in awhile. If we don't take time to reload, we have nothing to give in our academic environment. So, if you are free from class for summer one, like me (or all summer you lucky duck), take that time to do some things that you don't get a chance to while you are in school!
  • Sleep until you wake up! Forget setting that alarm! It feels good and gives your brain a chance to sort out all of those things you learn during the day.
  • Clean your car. If you're like me, it is covered in dust and full of books and junk. Cut that stuff out. It makes your life take longer. Same goes for your closet.
  • Learn things you don't get a chance to in school. Google some stuff. Check out some books from the library.Yup, the UT Tyler library is open during the summer!
