Fifty Shades of Fabulous

By now, most people have a favorite color and it is usually their “signature” color. Have you ever gone shopping and thought, “Oh jeez, what is up with that color? It’s too bright/murky/(fill in the blank with your choice of complaint)!” This is how I used to feel about gray.

Fall in Love with Fashion

Even though the first official day of fall is September 22, Texas doesn't seem to know that. With humidity high and the temperatures even higher, a fashionista can start to wonder, “when will it all end?”

25% Off For UT Tyler Students

I'm sure many of you are cluttering over the upcoming fall semester with your various last minute preparations. Some of you are busy moving into a new apartment or dorm, while others are trying to adjust to the idea of living away from home for the first time. Well, if one of these clustering moments involves shopping for school clothes have I got news for you. During the month of August The St. Vincent de Paul store in Tyler is offering a 25% discount to all UT Tyler students who show a valid student ID.

St. Vincent de Paul is a chain of international thrift stores owned and operated by the Society of St. Vincent de Paul. (Who would'a Thunk?) Anyway, it is basically equivalent to the Goodwill thrift chain except SVdP stores treat their employees better. I actually bought the couch that's currently in my apartment from there about 2 years ago. I may not have a picture to share but let me tell you, this is a good couch. I mean I do sit on it and everything.

So if you're interested in saving 25% on your back to school shopping go check out the local St. Vincent de Paul store on 410 S. College St. Tyler TX 75702. Their hours are Monday, Tuesday and Thursday from 10 to 5:30 and are also open the first Saturday of each month..

Who needs "cool" clothes???

The countdown for the fall semester has begun and it seems like you can't go online or watch TV without getting some kind of ad that tells you you need to buy these "back to school essentials": be it dorm necessities, supplies, computers and your college "style" must haves.

Let me just point out that you don't need to splurge on an entire "college appropriate" wardrobe to bring to your first semester. Yes, you should put at least a little effort to dress when you get ready for lecture (just because you can go to class in your pajamas with a box of cereal, doesn't mean you should). Technically, there's no rules to how you should dress when you go to college, but....

Dresses Only, this Spring

In response to Bianca's bloggie, I would have to agree that we hardly have seasons here in Tyler, but I could hardly complain. "Proper Spring-wear" is something I have no real idea about, but I'll tell you what I do know.

I like dresses. One can never be in a bad mood in a dress, and in the harsh Texas heat, they serve me well. I have dresses in every color- white, blue, black, pink. No matter my mood one will fit. I also adore them, because if I lose or gain a little bit of weight as the semester goes on, most dresses will still fit properly. They tend to be more forgiving than their two legged counterpart.

For those of you that don't go for dresses,  I have compiled a list of trends I noticed from scrutinizing fashion blogs:
neons
denims
laces
knits

sheers
pastels
floral prints
tribal prints
hi-low skirts

trapeze tanks
music artist graphic tees & tanks

blazers
gladiators

platforms
shoulder bags

The beauty is, these new trends are just old trends, so I hope you never threw anything away.

Just because it is popular,
doesn't mean I have to like it, though.

What's your springwear?

When I walk around campus, I tend to notice what people are wearing when the seasons change. Seeing as we barely have seasons here in Texas, I always end up seeing a bunch of different things people wear. There's the girls that always wear Racket&Jog shirts and basketball shorts, wife-beater and baggy jeans dudes, or any assorted group of people wearing their frat/sorority shirt and some kind of shorts. These people wear this kind of thing all year, no matter what the weather. As you can probably tell, this puzzles me. So, what I want to know is, what is your spring wear? Do you go back and forth between jeans and shorts? Skirts maybe? Are you someone who always wears long sleeves? Sneakers or sandals? Or boots, maybe? I'm just curious as to what constitutes proper spring wear. I'm hoping someone could shed some light for me. :D
