Christmas
is over….sad face. The best holiday out of the year is gone. All the decorations
get taken away. The Christmas lights no longer illuminate your home at night. Your
home doesn't smell like pine trees or candy canes. But you know what it can
smell like today??? BACON!!!!!!!!!!!

Bacon Burger Bowling
I posted very early this semester about going to a Pancake thing with my roommates.
Well I went to another one of these hosted events by two of the RA's at Patriot Village.
To be honest, I went for the bacon. If it was just burger bowling, I don't know if I would have gone.
I suckered my lovely roommate Canada to join me.
I summed up this video in a lovely video for you readers.
So just click play and watch my night of fun.

The 4:00am Fire Drill
One of the perks of living on campus? 4 am fire alarm drills.
This occurred maybe a week or two ago but got shoved under the rug because I was still disgruntled about it until recently. The good thing about this event was it happened on a Saturday night. So I didn't go all HULK SMASH on the closest object. If it had been on Sunday,Tuesday or Thursday that would be a totally different story because I have a 8:00 class and I need all the sleep I can get.
Here's the play by play:
I wasn't wearing any pants when I went to bed the night of this fire alarm. So when my reflexes kicked in after hearing the fire alarm. I jumped out of bed. This action knocked my phone on the floor. I grabbed the closest pair of pants I could find, which were jeans, put them on and waited for my roommates to get up and went to the stairwell. The fire alarms are very sensitive at Patriot Village.
Ironically, my boyfriend's ex-roommate cooked three pounds of bacon on a griddle last semester and DIDN'T set off the alarm. Though every open-able window and door was open to move all the smoke and yucky-ness out of the apartment.
Back to the dreaded night, there wasn't really a fire but smoke of some sort tricked the fire alarm to go off. We all headed back to bed. Between my roommates, it was decided that I had the best fight or flight reactions and that when I was standing in the hallway waiting for my roommates looked extremely creepy.
Funny thing, that next day the fire alarm went off at the second building when it was raining.
So. yeah. Fire alarms are awesome in the sense that if an actual fire occurs, the chance of you getting out alive is higher. The increased sensitivity of fire alarms when there is not a fire can be annoying.
Things like this occur. You can get mad about them or just go with the flow. I can say that I have experienced a 4:00 am fire drill. Have you?

Roommate Bonding
Last semester, I wrote this post about how I supposedly was going to live with my friend Stephanie after my horrific roommate experience that first semester of college. During the summer, she changed her plans and moved in with another one of our friends. I took this opportunity to change to Patriot Village and get the luxury of a kitchen. This decision had the end results of another random roommate selection but for 3 new roommates.
Now I'm going to tell you the truth here. I spent the whole summer after the room changing ordeal freaking out about "What if I have bad roommates???" and remembering how awful it was. When the move in day came, I moved in at the same time as one of my roommates and that went pretty well. The others moved in while I was out. We all congregated in the kitchen on the Sunday and had a "get to know you" talk that lasted about three hours.

After that talk, our overall level of friendship on a range of 1 through 10 was about 4. The first couple days of school came and everybody was in class and trying to find classes and all that other jazz. A flyer appeared on our door announcing that our RA and another RA were hosting a BREAKFAST FOR DINNER!! on Thursday night. Megan mentioned I was doing this in her blog. So all of us got all excited about the prospect for free dinner and made a plan to all go together. So that night we all walked to Clubhouse and feasted on the copious amounts of pancakes, scrambled eggs, and bacon whilst slipping on some OJ.
Here is a picture of one of my roommates holding the BIGGEST chocolate pancake that was made with another smaller one within it. Which she consumed all of it and then some.
After this wonderful bonding session, I ended up spending most of my weekend with the roommate pictured. This included Mortal Kombat on my Xbox 360 and then preceded to watch old school animation movies. I don't mean old like 2005 but rather 1981 old.
So that's a summary of my first week of school aside from what I did in classes.
Now I embark on the second week of class which includes my 20th birthday on Friday.
So I'm hoping that it's good week.
