So Long, and Thanks For All the Fish

Thursday, July 17th, 2014 will be my final day working for the UT Tyler Admissions Call Center. While my time here seems to have been short, I have enjoyed every moment of working in this office. I have been extremely proud of giving back to my university by spreading the word about how much this institution has to offer to new students. This school has given me so much--an affordable education, a great debate team, great classes and professors, and a great office to work in--and I am extremely gracious to have been able to give back.

Starting mid-August, I will begin working at the Literacy Council of Tyler as a Student Intern, where I will have the opportunity to tutor students enrolled in GED and ESL programs. While I have enjoyed my time expressing to potential students the benefits of enrolling at UT Tyler, this job will give me an opportunity to work with students who need more help than others. I have large respect for those who commit to getting their GED so they can accomplish more with their life, and I love that I get to help these students achieve their short- and long-term goals.

The past year and two months in this office has been extremely memorable. I have met new friends, had great bosses, and the experiences I have shared with them here will go unparalleled in the future. Alas, the opportunities that I have been offered in my new job are too enticing to pass up, and I wish to take my talents to this office to tackle new challenges and make new memories while I still have a year left at UT Tyler.

I will miss speaking with potential students about attending UT Tyler and the opportunities available to them at this wonderful institution. I will miss blogging about debate, events at UT Tyler, the wondrous world of academia, and the opportunities available at UT Tyler. I will miss the shenanigans in the Call Center, such as yelling at Carver and Kevin from across the room. I will miss the friendly environment, the accommodating staff that oversees our office, and the opportunities that they presented us to better ourselves both in and out of the workplace. I will miss the Call Center quite a bit once I leave.

Alas, it is time to go. So Long, and Thanks For All the Fish.

My last few weeks at the call center!

So sadly I have to announce my last day here at the admission office call center. I know I posted a blog before in spring semester stating that I won’t be back in summer or fall, but since I did for a month during summer, I would have leave for fall semester because of my internship.

August 22nd is my last day :(

I had an amazing time working with such great a great team. This job thought me so much during my time spent here.

One thing I like most about this job is the fact that everyone here works as a team, and every day is a fun environment here at our office. I have never gotten bored with what I did; we made our day very productive each day to accomplish our tasks.

I will still be here at the campus to finish my last semester, so if any of the new students wanted to reach out for me for any questions or concerns about TheUniversity of Texas at Tyler can locate me theHPC building. HPC is the Health and Kinesiology department and all of my classes will be there in fall.

And before I leave, I want to thank each and every one of my team members for always keeping a fun environment at the office. Hopefully I will see you guys around campus in fall. And a huge Thanks to my supervisor for giving me such a great opportunity.

I would definitely suggest to upcoming freshman to look into this job. The hours are great so you don’t have to worry about finding a different job and adjust your classes according to them. Trust me.. you will LOVE IT HERE!

My Last Day At The Call Center

Recently I had to make an important decision concerning my future as a graduate student and a telecounselor here at the University of Texas at Tyler. I figured out by going full time as a graduate student I can graduate by Fall of 2014. However, this will prevent me from continuing here at the UT Tyler Call Center. Let me explain...

5-Hour Experiment at UT Tyler

I’m sure by now most of you have sat through one of those 5-hour Energy commercials or at least seen an advertisement for it in a newspaper, a magazine, etc. And I’m sure by now most of you have tried one and learned of its hidden power. However, I have not. So today when I went into the call center I decided to try one and see the effects it had on my work.
