How To Reach Others Part 1

Lets all say it all together - our world is a much smaller place thanks to technology like Twitter, Tumblr, Facebook, Google Hangouts, Skype, and our cell/smart-phones. While the format might be small you can open a blogger from your phone, upload pictures of yourself, post to the internet, and let people you care about know about things that matter to you. Still, this proposal can seem like a veritable whale to eat all by yourself. How can you best reach others? How can you make the best use of your technological abilities?

UT Tyler Patriot Preview Day

Last Saturday, we held our Patriot Preview Day. This was the first time I've worked one of these events, and I had a blast. If you didn't get a chance to visit us, we will be holding another Preview Day on April 5th. Here's what our twitter feed was like during the event:

If you have pictures of Preview Day, go ahead and tag us on twitter and share your pictures with us!

On Preview Day, breakfast consisted of Rusty's Tacos breakfast tacos; lunch was burgers, hot dogs and dessert. During lunch, we were giving out some prizes and during the showcase, our tables were filled with goodies.

If you've been following us on Twitter in the weeks leading up to Preview Day, our team posted some pictures about getting ready for the big day.

In fact, we got so attached to our Preview Day pumpkins, we started naming them. Valkerie went on a search for her Jeffrey after lunch.

I love happy endings.

What was your favorite part of Preview Day?

Social media use in modern society

Social media has become a pop culture phenomenon since Friendster, one of the first social networking sites, was created. There is media outlets such as blogging, micro blogging, photo and video sharing, writing forums and even podcast sharing. These outlets include Facebook, Twitter, word press, Tumblr, Flickr, Pinterest, Instagram.

Social media has seen different spectrums of uses. These range from business networking sites like LinkedIn to the six second video sharing Vine site. Yet the most popular ones are the ones where sharing content is unlimited and free from definition such as Facebook posts or sharing your everyday life in photo form with Instagram.

Farmer's Market!

I promised our followers on Twitter you totally should if you aren't yet following us a blog post regarding Thursday when I went to the farmer's market (the one downtown on the library's patio).
I used more exclamation points than I realized
If you want to make it this week: the farmer's market is Thursdays from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM. There's many benefits to supporting your local farmer's market, but what I love the most is the variety of things you can buy.
Yes!
While I was there, there were fruits and vegetables, freshly ground coffee, gluten-free baked goods made from all natural ingredients, sundresses, pillows, homemade soaps, and natural hair products.
Just a portion of the patio
I left the farmer's market with a watermelon, a cantaloupe, some cucumbers, and some coffee. I will probably be there again next week because those homemade soaps smelled wonderful.
Try out the farmer's market at least once and you'll see how much you'll love it. Tell me why you love the farmer's market (or if you don't).
