UT Tyler Student Money Management hosts "Eating Healthy on a Budget"

As a college student, there is really no time nor is there money to consider healthy eating. There are times where life is going at a fast pace. Deadlines approach and the dollar menu may be faster and more efficient. These habits should be reconsidered and there are resources available to you in the university to help you if you'd like! The University of Texas at Tyler Student Money Management is hosting their event "Eating Healthy on a Budget" to inform you!

The event will take place on Tuesday, March 25th at 12:30 p.m. in the University Center Ballroom. There will be different prizes available! There will also be free food and what's better than FREE FOOD? Nothing, but there is great information available. You could also win a prize packet by following the guidelines below!

According to USDA guidelines, there should be at least one serving of fruits and vegetables in your diet everyday. There are some students that tend to typically not follow these guidelines. Unless you eat at Subway everyday and pack the sandwich with vegetables. Besides proteins and fibers, vegetables and fruits are an important component of what you should eat everyday. This doesn't typically happen to some since we constantly live eventful lives clouded with work, school, relationships and friends. This tends to leave less time to consider what food we eat.

From self perspective, there should definitely be a cut of soda, fat, and excessive sugar products from your diet. This can result in poor hearth health, increasing body weight and overall bad health. These foods can be consumed, but it should always be taken in moderation. I myself need to start practicing better dietary choices as I do not eat all my servings of fruits and vegetables.

Be sure to come out to this event and learn more on how we can live healthier lives that will benefit us in the future.
