September Tomfoolery: Random Holiday Calender

Hey everybody, it’s nice to talk to you guys again! It’s been quite a while since I’ve been in touch because I’ve been doing the behind-the-scenes work on this blog here at The University of Texas at Tyler and avoiding writing like the plague since the massive writing explosion I had back in May. That involved working three blogs and having two or three essays each week for a little over a month… Yeah. It’s a tiring business.

BUT HEY! I’m here to start back up with the Random Holiday Calendar (Yes, I’m naming it now) which started back in February, for the month of September. So if Labor Day, Yom Kippur, or Sukkot celebrations just aren’t cutting it, don’t panic. September has lots of random tomfoolery to celebrate!

Okay, so check it out. Before we check out the individual days, I thought I’d share some monthly observances for September.

Apparently, this month is:
+Chicken Month
+Piano Month
+Baby Safety Month
+International Square Dancing Month
+Self-Improvement Month
+Better Breakfast Month

So, if you’re in the business of increasing your baby’s safety, making your breakfasts better this month with more chicken dishes, or improving your piano and square dancing skills, September is the perfect month to do it. Apparently.

But, if you’re more of a short-term commitment kind of person, you can just take September a day at a time and celebrate some of these days instead (or all of them if you’re in the business of overachieving).

September 1st: Calender Adjustment Day (Dates back to the 1700s in Great Britain)
September 2nd: Labor Day
September 3rd: Skyscraper Day
September 4th: Newspaper Carrier Day
