Early this morning I received a call from my mother. Apparently
a tree in their front yard had lost a battle with a most formidable opponent…
THE WIND. The inclement weather had caused a tree to fall on the power lines
leading to the house. However, the lines didn't really snap all the way. Let me
show you what I mean.
From the driveway |
From inside garage |
The tree managed to fall hitting a truck, the power line,
and the roof of the house. The power line was only halfway connected. My mother called the power company which I shall rename
Pshur Ural. As of now they said they would be sending someone out shortly but
there has been no one as of yet.
DANGER DANGER!!! HIGH VOLTAGE!!! |
It is important to be reminded on what to do in certain
situations (even as an adult). When active power lines are involved it is
always call the power company and the police as well. If you know the local non-emergency
number that would be better than dialing 911. However, you should never
hesitate in calling the police in a situation you feel is dangerous. Around the
UT Tyler campus there are several blue police boxes that will call the police
to that location immediately. In the end, remember to be safe out there and
stay away from downed power lines…. Because only you can prevent wildfires... and
such.
