As a junior, I have a personal adviser in my department. For freshman students, it starts at the The Academic Advising Center. Below is a link and their mission. :)
The Academic Advising Center is committed to providing excellence in advising while building relationships with students and supporting them in achieving their academic goals. To that end, we are committed to:
- Creating a supportive and student-friendly atmosphere;
- Encouraging students to set academic and career goals;
- Empowering students to reach their goals; and
- Providing individual academic support through quality advisement and confidentiality while maintaining and honoring the dignity and potential of each student.
Making meetings with advisers is easy and necessary. I feel much better planning ahead.
