I love doing laundry, but I hate ironing clothes. I never seem to be able to find the time to do it, and I also have a tendency leave cloths in the dryer a day or two. I saw an advertisement on Bed Bath & Beyond of this product Mister Steamy. It claims: “Mister Steamy is the revolutionary new dryer ball with the power of steam. From now on get soft, wrinkle free clothes without an iron or dryer sheets.”
I said to my self…lets try this product. I bought 2 Mister Steamy dryer balls for $15 plus tax, and right away went home to test them out.
I found it works with lightweight material; it does not remove wrinkles with heavy cottons and corduroys (pants, short, etc). Shirts like the Polo styles it does well but linens no really. In other words, it works the same as old wet washcloth trick.
I found that it does remove odor, but who wants to turn on the dryer for 2 or 3 things. Also I am worried about the sponge inside Mr. Steamy; I don’t think it will last.
One thing that really bothers me of this product is the sound…it sounds like I toss a brick inside the dryer.
I've had mixed results with it, and the bottom line is I spend $15 in an unnecessary product.

Not necessarily. The little sponge inside my Mr. Steamy wore out in about five weeks, and when I read the directions it said to get a new Mr. Steamy every three to six months (!). But when my sponge wore out, I merely replaced it with a small cellulose kitchen sponge that doesn't wear out at all. It was dry enough that I could cram it through the hole, and it never gets smaller. My Steamy will now work forever.
