You know with all of the random things that I've been blogging about it never occurred to me that I might have something truly important to say. Then last week as I was reading another blog I realized that I had done something that UT Tyler had enabled that was truly and undeniably life changing. With the help of UT Tyler I was able to spend four weeks (from July 9-August 9) in Europe this past summer.
I know that to some people that may not be such a big deal. To them I say "Are you freaking crazy?". I had a great time and the experience changed my life in multiple ways. I think that I'll use this blog to share a little of what I did. Fortunately for me (maybe that would be better stated as us) not only did my professor require us to keep a journal, but I am an incessant picture taker. The way I figure it I'll post a few things that we did every couple of days just so you can see what all I was doing. It's exciting, I promise.
During my first week there I got to see quite a few things in and around London.
This is the view from the bridge 5 minutes from where we were staying.
This is from Hyde Park. I didn't go there by choice (my friend dragged me), but it was beautiful. It's one of the "Royal Parks of London'" (for those of you interested in random facts).
This was like a ten or fifteen minute walk from where we were staying. it's called 'The London Eye" and it's 443 feet tall. I never went on it, but I hear it's quite an experience.
I was there with a program to study 'The Psychopathology of Serial Killers in the UK, Substance Abuse in the UK, and the History of Psychiatric Medicine in the UK". I got to visit the Surgeons Museum in London. This is the ornament they have hanging above their door. If you look really close you can see that it is made up of surgical tools. Cool, right?
Well, that wraps me up for now. That covers a bit less than a week of my major adventures there. Obviously, there is WAY more then I could possibly fit on a blog that happened. I also went on a Jack the Ripper tour/walk, visited Harrod's department store, and visited a terrible mexican restaurant. That's just in my first week! Well, I guess I'll fill you all in on more later.
I hope you all have a great week!
