Call Me Maybe

The littlest of things that amuse college students

When entering college at The University of Texas at Tyler, I didn't realize how much the littlest of things would amuse me as a college student. Most of you have probably heard the song Call Me Maybe by Carly Rae Jepson and had your own personal thoughts about it. Well one of those little things that has amused me is that the Harvard Baseball Team decided to make a video of their own about the song on YouTube. Instead of going to search the video on YouTube, I have provided you their entertainment below so watch it and let me know what you think!

Summer College Life

STRESS OVERLOAD

So you know how summer is supposed to be the time to relax and not stress about anything? I would like to meet whoever came up with that concept and prove them wrong by having them experience what my average day usually consists of:

6:15AM- Wake up and get in the shower
6:45AM- Get out of shower and make coffee
7:00AM- Start getting ready for work
7:40AM- Aim to leave my apt by this time
8:00AM-1:00PM- Work for the District Attorney
1:00PM- Leave work
1:15PM- Eat lunch at my apt
1:45PM- Leave my apt for class
2:00PM-4:20PM- Topics in Communications Class
4:00PM-9:00PM-Work at the Student Communications Center
9:00PM-Drive back to the apt
9:15PM- Eat dinner
9:45PM- 11:00PM Workout
11:10PM- Shower
11:30PM-12:15AM-Study
12:30AM-Sleep

This is a pretty accurate timeline of how my days will pan out until June 15th, and then I will be able subtract the Topics in Communications Class....which will take away a little stress. However, if you take a look at my planner for the next 4 months you will see that my stress has just begun.

UT Tyler Orientation Leader Retreat

5 Things an OL should NEVER forget

After hours of sleep deprivation, learning every fact about The University of Texas at Tyler, and competing in extremely competitive endurance challenges I survived my first Orientation Leader Retreat. I learned so many different things this past weekend and I wanted to share my experience with the things that really stuck out to me.

1. Drink lots of coffee/always have caffeine on hand.

By being an Orientation Leader, you're going to be exhausted waking up in the wee early hours in the morning so remember to drink some sort of caffeine to make sure you're wide awake when you first meet your freshmen that are assigned to your group.

2. Remember it's not about you, it's about them!

The whole reason for being an OL is to really portray how awesome our school is and how hyped we are about the incoming patriots!! So put their perspectives first and foremost before your own because you will have a huge impact on how they view The University of Texas at Tyler and their decision in choosing the school.
