UT Tyler Freshman Orientation session 1!!

New Patriots flocked the university as the first orientation session occurred last Thursday and Friday. The University of Texas at Tyler welcomed these new freshman as they have taken the interest in attending UT Tyler. Orientation is always different for every session, the programs are the same for each session, but the new people make this experience fresher every time. Orientation is not only a valuable program for students, but parents also get to experience UT Tyler first hand!

Thursday started with students checking in for orientation. Once they were all checked in, there was a welcome session presentation from the Director of New Student Programs. The orientation leaders later proceeded to introduce themselves to the freshman class of 2018.

The whole session consisted of different presentations provided by different resource departments here at UT Tyler including Student Services, Campus Police Department, Residence Life, and many more. Parents were also able to be informed of this resources that they too could potentially use or refer to whenever needed.

Orientation is a great opportunity for incoming students to not only get acquainted with the school, but they get wholesome information from a face to face perspective and is better than just reading information online. Students and parents are able to ask questions and get those answers promptly rather than exchanging e-mails or phone calls.

Orientation leaders are also a major component that make orientation more enjoyable. We are able to provide a student perspective to giving information about the school. We give them a tour of the campus. We also help in making their transition more engaging through activities! Being an orientation is great and I am glad I am back for my second year.
There are three more freshman orientation sessions this summer:
  • Session 2: June 26-27
  • Session 3: July 10-11
  • Session 4: July 24-25
Be sure to register for orientation!!!

Feel free to contact the program if you have any questions!
