Men's Soccer Wins ASC Tourney, Going to NCAAs


The UT Tyler men’s soccer team earned a 3-0 win over Hardin-Simmons in the finals of the 2011 American Southwest Conference Championship Tournament. The conference title earns the Patriots (15-2-2) an automatic berth into the NCAA Men’s Soccer Championships. UT Tyler recorded 19 shots in the contest, including seven on-goal. The Patriots, who will be making their third NCAA tournament appearance, have now won back-to-back ASC Championships and three of the last four league titles. The UT Tyler men’s soccer team will host Oglethorpe on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Citizens 1st Bank-Perkins Soccer Complex in the first round of the 2011 NCAA Division III Men’s Soccer Championships. The winner of Thursday's match will face Trinity (Tex.) on Sunday at in San Antonio. Admission charges are $6 for adults and $4 for seniors and students. Come out and support your patriots!!!!
