UT Tyler Remembers 9-11!!!!

In recognition of the 10th anniversary of Sept. 11, UT Tyler will hold special memorial events on campus.
The UT Tyler Student Government Association, in conjunction with student affairs, will host “Freedom Week” Sept. 11 – 16. The annual SGA candlelight vigil begins at 9:11 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11 at the Dub and B.J. Riter Millennium Carillon Tower. Rain location will be the University Center ballroom.
UT Tyler will hold a Sept. 11 remembrance day, beginning with a ceremony at noon Monday, Sept. 12 in the UC theater. President Rodney Mabry and Dr. Davor Jedlicka, professor of sociology, will give remarks. Jedlicka has assisted those affected by the 9-11 attacks in New York as an American Red Cross volunteer counselor.
“We plan to display artist canvases as ‘reflection panels’ where students, faculty, staff and administrators can share their experiences and memories regarding Sept. 11,” said Tiffany Allison, UT Tyler SGA president. “These panels will be displayed all week and also kept to be displayed at future 9/11 events.”
The UT Tyler Robert R. Muntz Library also will hold its annual September Project, which will highlight special reading materials and documentaries focusing on Sept. 11 that week.
The September Project is a grassroots effort to encourage events about freedom and democracy in all libraries worldwide during the month.
