UT Tyler Summer Camps!!!
While working out at the gym daily in the HPC the last couple of weeks, I noticed many kids running around, laughing, and playing around. These groups of kids each had a supervisor. I recognized one of the supervisors and decided to go and see what was going on. He had told me that he volunteered to organize, help, and manage the kids for the many camps that the university offers. We continued and finished our conversation shortly and I got back to my workout. Later that day, I thought to myself how exciting it must be to attend and wondered what camps the school offered over the summer time. This is what I found:

The University of Texas at Tyler will host the following summer camps this year:
• DIVE (Design Involving Varied Elements) Into Engineering
July 10 – 15 (residential program)
UT Tyler Ratliff Engineering and Science Complex
$350 (Requests may be considered for scholarships to cover a portion or all of the cost)

This camp provides an exciting and challenging opportunity for young engineers and scientists to explore the principles behind engineering and computer science while working in a group using the WaterBotics Curriculum to design and build a submersible robot. Faculty will conduct workshops introducing students to career and educational opportunities. Advising staff and student mentors will discuss appropriate preparation for college and STEM related careers. Students will discover and explore life on a college campus and have fun participating in recreational and team building evening activities. Parents and students will have an opportunity to share the students’ projects at the conclusion of the camp during a presentation and reception.

The camp is designed to help children develop a healthy lifestyle through enjoyable physical and intellectual activities including nutrition education, swim lessons, “brain games” and non-traditional sports.
• Recreational Sports Action Camp (Grades 1 – 6)

The camp will provide a fun-filled and rewarding experience with activities including swimming, wiffleball, basketball, kickball, dance, kids aerobics and field day activities.
• Youth Summer Swim Team (Ages 5 – 17)

This program will introduce the sport of competitive swimming to young athletes using interval training. Children must be able to swim 50 yards of front crawl to qualify.
