UT Tyler 2011-12 Cheer Squad Announced

The 2011-12 UT Tyler Cheer Squad members have been selected after a record-number turnout for tryouts this semester.

Three judges selected 14 out of 18 candidates. Cheer Squad members are: sophomore Ariel Elgie of Wills Point, senior Brooke Romo of Chandler, senior Chelsea Cothran of Okla., senior Colby Radford of Mineral Wells, freshman Courtnie King of Quinlan, sophomore Erika Hannah of Vidor, junior Jaimie Burson of Hughes Springs, senior Jake Drew of Dallas, freshman Jessica Hennigan of Frisco, junior Joshua Brinkman of Jacksonville, freshman Lisa Kate Giovannini of Dallas, freshman Shelbey Simpson of La., graduate student Skylar Dillingham of Whitehouse and senior Stephanie She of Plano.

Prospects were given specific tryout material to learn only one day before their tryout performance. They prepared for tryouts by attending several open practices hosted by the current Cheer Squad and Full Out Athletics, a local elite cheerleader training facility. Many of the members will attend a rigorous cheerleader training camp this summer at Texas State University, according to Turner.
