I have been asked this question several times and I still don't have an exact answer, but what I have discovered about studying is it depends on the class and the professor. I can recall several classes where I would read over notes that I had taken and PowerPoints that the professors had given out and I would do just fine. Then there were classes were I had to make lots and lots of note cards and read the chapter and notes several times in order to grasp the concept or general ideas. I also had classes where I could just memorize quizzes or previous assignments and I could ace the exam. I feel that after you have experienced the class and your professor you have a general idea of how to study for that particular class. The best way for me to study is to get in a quiet place with no TV, music, or computers so I can't get easily distracted and focus on what’s in front of me. I then gather all my materials needed and I will come up with the best method to get through each chapter whether it was documents or quizzes. What i really find helpful for me is to not wait until the last minute for an exam. I do not like to be under pressure or cram before an exam. I like to at least have 3 to 5 days worth of studying. If it is a major exam like a certification or an exam that determines if I am getting into a program to further my education I have to get study guides and practice things in the book for months. I really don't believe there is any best way to study. I feel like you just have to just do it! I would like to know if you have any other ways that help you with studying. Since this school year is coming to an end we all need encouragement and ways to deal with stress anxiety before an exam. So please share your tips and ideas!

As former SI leader and UT Student I spent a great deal of time learning about how students study and making the most of that time. There are some great resources out there if you are still tweaking your study method. My favorite resource for ideas is http://www.sarc.sdes.ucf.edu/?id=studyskills_handouts
