2010-2011 Transfer Scholarships

Scholarships are a great way to help students to pay for school, and are awarded to students who meet certain academic or organizational requirements. The best part about them is that they do not have to be repaid, and you can keep them as long as you maintain the requirements. At UT Tyler students can apply for various scholarships, and two of these are exclusive to students are are transferring in from other colleges.

The first of these is the Transfer Presidential Scholarship. To qualify for this scholarship fir the 2010-2011 academic year, students must have been accepted by May 1st and must be transferring in a minimum of 59 hours (or 4 regular semesters as a full-time student) and touting at least 3.3 GPA. Additionally students need to enroll in at last 12 hours of courses in the fall and spring semesters.

The second of the two is the Phi Theta Kappa Transfer Scholarship. Again students must have been accepted by May 1st and need to have 59 hours with a GPA between 3.0 and 3.29. The student must be a member of Phi Theta Kappa and be in good standing, and also must enroll in 12 hours of coursework in the fall and spring semesters.

Transfer Scholarships are renewable for one academic year following the initial award. No application is required for renewal. To renew scholarship students must complete 12 credit hours at UT Tyler for the semesters awarded, in addition to maintaining a minimum 2.0 GPA at UT Tyler.

Starting this academic year, students no longer need to apply for scholarships. The school is reviewing every transfer applicant for scholarship eligibility, and funds will be awarded automatically. Scholarship funds are limited and are awarded on a first-come, first-served basis.
