My First Tyler Tornado...

The title to this entry sounds like a bad fiction novel, but it was the biggest part of my day yesterday. It started off as a muggy day with gray skies and an overcast. I can count on my hand how many humid, Houston-like-weather days I've experienced here in Tyler. This day was one of them. I was just expecting a little rain, but the powers that control the universe needed a good laugh. As soon as I decided to be productive and go to Walmart it starts to rain. By the time I got to my friend's car I was all soggy and uncomfortable. After we made our trip (and the rain decided to let up as soon as we got back to school by the way) it was mere hours before I hear an urgent banging on my door. Wonderful news: a tornado is making it's way through Canton and getting closer. I guess the brighter side to this story is that even when we were coralled into the stairwells and people were struggling to send text messages and call loved ones, my phone was fully functional. My phone, by the way, is so old that it's not even a camera phone. Yes, those still exist. Well, at least through it all my phone held up.Afterwards, I got to go back to my room and sleep through the night.
