I Graduated from UT Tyler....Now What?

On Friday, December 13th, I graduated from The University of Texas at Tyler with my bachelor's. I walked across the stage and later went out to eat with my family.

Now, I'm still working my two part time jobs and have to get started on what I'm going to do post-graduation. It still hasn't fully sunk in that I won't have to worry about classes next spring. So I'm feeling a bit lost.

Hopefully, you won't have to worry and fall into the "what now" phase after graduation, but the reality is, only 27% of college graduates work in a field related to their major. That's pretty scary.

I feel you, Agnes
The key is to not give up. I want to find a full time job (I am not picky right now and not worried about it being related to my Political Science degree) and work on being able to take the GRE and go to grad school later. Instead of hitting the books, I'll be hitting employer websites.

After working (for what seems forever) on my bachelor's degree, I'm ready for some stability that comes with having a full time (super grown up) job.

Of course, any university student will know the feeling of being constantly asked by family members (and strangers) about what you're going to school for and how it's going with your degree.

Now that I've graduated and the holidays are coming, I can feel the constant questions about what I graduated with, where I'm going to work, and what I'm trying to do with my degree coming my way. The problem is that when I was working on my degree, I felt sort of like this:

And as a recent grad, I feel like this:

I feel the pressure from peers and family and that makes me want to simultaneously work harder at trying to find full-time employment and just doing all the things I never could years before. So in between my two jobs and job searching, I'll be doing the following (I may have already started on a few):
  • Marathoning Buffy the Vampire Slayer (I don't have to get up early for class anyways!)
  • Reading all the books on my To Read list that has exponentially grown since working at the library
  • Taking more baths (I only had time for quick showers when studying for exams or working on papers)
  • Working out in a more consistent basis (I would start a schedule for a few months, but schoolwork would take over and I couldn't keep up).
  • Watch all the movies I've missed in 2013 (maybe not all the movies of this year; after leaving my job at the movie theater, I've gotten behind on good movies)
Any other recent grads having the same problems? Anything you want to do now that you've graduated?
