Middle of summer, come on school!

It is almost the 4th of July and I am so ready for school to start! UT Tyler offers so many activities to do during the school year that it is so depressing staying here over the summer. I understand that not many people are here during the summer, heck... it's pretty much a ghost campus, but come on school because I can not wait for some free stuff!! Once school starts back up I am sure Campus Activities Board (CAB) will have something ready for everyone to jump in to as a "Welcome Back" kind of gimmick and you know what... I fall for it every time! :) So, everyone should say, "Come on school!" because we want free fun! Even though classes start up then, the first week is mostly syllabus/class schedule talk and not much of actual learning items for the respective class you are in. The activities by CAB far make up for classes actually starting.

So everyone yell with me, "Come on school! Come on school! Come on school!"

remmuS

Classes are good so far. They are definitely keeping me busy. It's been pretty hot outside lately and no rain has fallen in a while. The grass is growing pretty good in some areas of town. Guess it likes the heat. Nothing much else is happening.

Training is going rough

Had to take a few days off from the running because my left leg is basically worthless. The left is the one that I hurt when I almost caused my ankle bone to shatter like glass. But it's not the ankle, the pain is from my hip, my knee, and the bottom of my foot, my right leg is completely okay. I am a weird mish-mash of injuries and pain right now. My arms are getting a little tan from being outside though, but this layoff is making me convert back to pale :/ now I'm going to burn again whenever I go back outside this is my reaction to that

Summer Classes.

I haven't taken a summer class in awhile, so taking one this summer has definitely not been fun. The class doesn't start until 10:50am though, so it's not too bad. Another plus is that I'm getting a class over with in 5 weeks rather than taking it a whole semester. That is probably the best part of taking a summer class because you can get it over with really quick, which is great for me since this is my last class before I can graduate. Also since I'm taking it during the summer, I only have to do the group project that's required for the class. If I would have taken it during a full semester, I would have had to do the group project and a individual paper, which wouldn't have been fun. Summer will definitely get better once this class is over with and I'm looking forward to that. Hope everyone is having a great summer!

UT Tyler Cowan Center Announces 2011 – 12 Season Featuring Blue Man Group, Bill Cosby and Huey Lewis and the News

The University of Texas at Tyler R. Don Cowan Fine and Performing Arts Center celebrates its 15th anniversary with a season filled with blockbuster Broadway, concert, dance and lecture events, Susan Thomae-Morphew, Cowan Center executive director, announced.
New season subscriptions are on sale now at the UT Tyler Cowan Center box office, by calling 903.566.7424 or online at www.cowancenter.org. Box office hours are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
The deadline to purchase season subscriptions is Friday, Aug. 5, 2011.
“We are so proud of the talent and variety we have put together for East Texas performing arts fans to enjoy this season,” Thomae-Morphew said. “A million memories have been created since our center opened its doors in 1997, and we plan to make more great ones with our fifteenth anniversary celebration.
“From Blue Man Group to Bill Cosby from ‘Beauty and the Beast’ to ‘In the Heights,’ this season is loaded with blockbuster events. I can’t wait to witness the beauty of Ailey II as well as Tony Winner Idina Menzel in concert with a 15-piece orchestra!”
Audiences will recognize Menzel from her award-winning work as Elphaba in Broadway’s ‘Wicked’ as well as her guest appearances on the hit television show, GLEE, she added.
“Buying season tickets is the only way to assure patrons of getting the best seats at the lowest price. In addition, our subscribers become part of our Cowan Center family with their loyal attendance. We hope everyone will consider subscribing to one, two or all of our series,” said Thomae-Morphew.:

Nursing

So I got an email today from the nursing department telling me they are implementing something new into the nursing program. A drug test. So anyway that's not a big deal. As I got to the bottom of the letter though, I noticed we have to pay for it It's $42 or about 84 tacos from Jack in the Box. I think it's pretty sad we have to pay for our own drug test. We pay enough fees through the University already, I can't believe it's not covered under those fees. I would think they could at least get the hospitals that the students pay the University to work at during clinicals to do the drug testing for free. Oh well, life goes on I guess. I hope the Clinic enjoys those 84 tacos.

Knew today was gonna be a bad day

Many bumps in the road currently, lots of bad things currently happening, will try my best to fix these problems. I can't talk about it quite yet, we'll see what happens, but yeah, I'm not going to rest until this thing is fixed... well I'm going to rest, but not as easily.

my so so summer

So Summer is going well. I didn't realize how tired I was after the Spring classes til I started these summer ones. I kinda wish I wasn't taking them. Financial aid is also taking way too long on releasing my summer money. I trying to train to do a 5K for the Tyler rose marathon. I'm using the training from a half marathon in hopes that it'll make me in pretty good shape for the 5K. I figure training for as longer run will give me better endurance for a short one.

UT Tyler Summer Camps!!!

While working out at the gym daily in the HPC the last couple of weeks, I noticed many kids running around, laughing, and playing around. These groups of kids each had a supervisor. I recognized one of the supervisors and decided to go and see what was going on. He had told me that he volunteered to organize, help, and manage the kids for the many camps that the university offers. We continued and finished our conversation shortly and I got back to my workout. Later that day, I thought to myself how exciting it must be to attend and wondered what camps the school offered over the summer time. This is what I found:

She is one of four students at four-year state universities to receive the award in the amount of $6,000 per year.

Job in Japan

So, I've recently gotten confirmation for a teaching job over in Japan. I've just graduated a few weeks ago, I supose that's been about 4 weeks ago. My leaving date for Japan is July 19. I have purchased a non-stop plane ticket from DFW to Tokyo & will arrive in Tokyo by the 20th. My supervisor will meet both me and my fellow co-worker at the Narita airport in Tokyo.

Went running today

It was incredibly hot like 100 degrees out or something near it, went out in the sun, in my vibrams, up hill, near traffic, for around 3 miles.... ouchies. I'm definitely not wearing my vibrams anymore if I'm doing those long distances, they absolutely murder my feet and legs, and hips... and face. I'm glad I got out there and put some work in though, I need to get a little more sun. I'm currently in my recovery week for my workout program, I'm officially a third of the way done with it, so I'm pretty excited. There's a jujitsu gym here in Tyler that I may start going to, jujitsu is a good tool to have anytime you might find yourself in a physically dangerous position with another human, couldn't hurt right?

Been a Minute!!!! (3 Weeks Away)

It’s been a minute since I have wrote a blog. Reason being because I took a 3 week “vacation” after the spring semester ended up until the summer. So what have I been up to since the end of the school year? Glad you ask. When the spring semester ended I went back home to Houston. It was good to see family and friends that I have not seen in a prolonged amount of time (it’s always good to be back home). To be honest my weekdays was full of doing absolutely NOTHING. As much as I love the city, I quickly realized that it was nothing for me in the city right now. All of my family and friends was either working or going to school, which is very plausible. In the evening time when everyone would get off, me and some friends would either played basketball or go out to look at the NBA playoffs at a restaurant. For my birthday weekend, which was May 29th, I went to Louisiana with my family. As you could guess, it was a lot of fun being reunited with the family again. About my birthday night?

New Summer hobby

Hey there everybody, well summer is in full swing and it is blazing hot outside so I'm trying to figure out things I can do to where I don't have to endure the sweltering heat. One thing I've sort of started to do is something called "streaming" my videogames. There's a software you get where when you play a video game and it broadcasts what you're doing to a website and people watch what you play... Kind of interesting stuff, I mean I'm already playing the video game, might as well let other people watch I guess? Not sure, but a lot of the more popular people get game donations and some money donations, not gonna lie that would be pretty cool. And with that software you can do reviews or playthroughs of video games, which also has the potential for financial money gain as well. But yeah, for right now I'm just playing around and enjoying all the relaxation!
